MASTERCLASS AND WORKSHOPS

UTOPIAN Territory

« I always consider dance to be an unknown language, of which the parameters of space and time need to be absorbed in the present moment in order for an interior exploration to take shape and eventually communicate what is felt.

For me, teaching is always about creating. It also involves discovery, observation, and listening to an environment, in the physical sense of the word. When the workshop is viewed as a place where the imagination can be developped, it becomes clear that dance is about thought being manifested in the body. We explore the ways in which it can 'be' through movement, and in doing so, another awareness of oneself emerges.

I offer an exploration of a state of being available and opend that is conducive to allowing yourself to do, act, and transform. To make yourself available to the dynamic of a movement by listening to and observing what is happening within when you are in this very relationship to listening, which opens us up to the space, the music, and others.

One of the desired goals is to lead the body into other areas of reflection, to explore new choreographic material, and to question one's own way of thinking and creating.»

RESEARCH LABS

EXTENDING SPACE AND TIME IN ORDER TO GENERATE THOUGHT

“Creating, for me, is an act that must find its roots, grounding, and need for being so that what it eventually articulates can find its place in our societies. “The time that is currently allowed for creating threatens the very nature of this process of articulation.

“When we are constantly being pushed to advance at an ever-increasing pace, fatigue is inevitable. I hope to counter this problem by managing to make time for thinking and how it takes shape in reality. I find it relevant to alternate lab time and work on producing a piece in order to establish the continuity and development of the creative process.

“Work in the studio is true lab work. I use it to look for ways to go from a tangible reality to an immaterial reality, how to go somewhere else, how to make something complete exist, how to delve into the composition of the space between two beings that will form the invisible structure supporting the whole thing.”
